Beauty Starts in Your Head and Not in Your Mirror

Before I get started, sorry I’ve been away from this for so long; I’ve been super busy and even managed to squeeze in a wonderful holiday to Devon. It was definitely needed and I decided I was going to relax and enjoy in what Devon had to offer in terms of food, drink and sightseeing, (including dolphins!) Prior to going away, I was trying to keep up my fitness at home but was finding it tough due to the lack of equipment and space. I am also a social exerciser so being surrounded by other makes me more motivated. I am really missing netball and all that comes with it – being part of a team when you are trying to reach any goal is so much more rewarding for me.

This leads me nicely on to todays blog title. Don’t get me wrong, I know that life is not all about how we look, so for me the term ‘beauty’ just encompasses our whole persona. I know I felt unhappy with my body and I knew I needed to do something about it. I was feeling sluggish and recognised that not only a uni lifestyle combined with lockdown and a holiday was making me feel uncomfortable. So, I’ve gone back to the gym! I also had a Zoom preseason training session with Reds last week and albeit virtual, the coming together on screen reminded me how much I miss training as a team.

Obviously nobody knows when we will be allowed to have the thrill of the pass between each other again, but hopefully it will be sooner than we think. However, even by getting myself back into this fitness routine has given me a refreshed goal. I cannot wait for a new start and a new season where we can safely continue to do the sport we all love.

My time at home is coming to an end as I am approaching second year at uni and living with my best friends is something I am so excited for. We’ll be in our own little bubble. This time in lockdown has taught me many things but one thing I know for sure is that my love for the game will see my smile return in the mirror in the changing room before going on court. Here’s to the next chapter.
